Back from India

Worked with the Sikh Regiment of India in the Jharkhand and started my collaboration with Matthieu Foss gallery in Mumbai. Something is going on here for me, also if still, the question of being a French Artist photographing in India raise up a lot of question marks. After the Hereros series, the Short school Haka, the Sikh Regiment is once again about post-colonialism. Scottish Tartan, Pipes and Drums mixed with the impressive Sikh turban, beard and mustaches. Assuming a cultural confrontation, a strange forced wedding between several cultures and wondering where I am exactly… as a French artist.

A slow process

I’ve been working on the Chinese Opera for five years now. After the production of the Lu Qian Ren character, his costume, his story, his performance, I now organize the production of its porcelain… which I think will be the last step of this project. What is the idea of producing this porcelain? I expect it to be one more step real, at least to reach a certain tangibility… I have the Idea of a book title too: “Found Mr Wang”, It will be a story, starting from the Opera series to this porcelain…
