| I now finalize the Empire show for the Arles festival. The exhibition will start the 7th of july. For the opening, the Vis voluntatis performance will take place in the middle of the show too. |

Shanghai Opera |
| I'm just back from Shanghai. I was invited by the new Museum of Contemporary Art to come at the opening of the opening of the "Unseen" Show (about young contemporary photography). My project about the Chinese Opera is going on. Not only based on photography, I progressively open myself to the idea of the performance mixted with a long preparation including the production of costumes, make up, design... I expect to be able to show my entire Opera project in China before the end of the year... |

New series online! |
| Hereros, Seijinshiki, New Opera are now online. The Seijinshiki series will be printed in my next book, as a collaboration with the manga designer 'Little Fish' (Tokyo). The Portfolio of the Hereros Series will be presented in 2008 too. |

| I ve just worked for a week zith the school of chinese opera of beijing. This time I worked with two professors for a make-up project. I ll present my first collages around this series in 2008. Images soon online too. |

| I worked in august in Namibia, mainly on two fundamental populations of the country: The Hereros and the Himbas. I'll bring soon some of the images online. |

French editorial |
| These last weeks have been dedicated to editorial projects, mainly large series for different french magazines: "Les Inrockuptibles" ordered me a series of portraits of french actors taking part of the "festival d'avignon". Next ordered me a series of portraits of italians fashion designers (Riccardo Tisci/ Givenchy, Ivana Omazic/ Celine, Antonio Marras/Kenzo, Maurizio Galante). I now work on a series of writers. |

| That's the title of the book made by Anne-Celine Jaeger (Thames & Hudson publisher) about a selection of photographers, focusing of the interactive aspect of photography, how the photographers of world stature approach their work, and what it is that makes them succeed. Also editors, gallerists are interviewed in the book. One of my Water-polo picture is the cover of the European version of the book. |

| A project which could push me to some different experiences... that s the idea of the Seijinshiki project I ve started in Osaka this month (look on the new images these next days). A new project starting also out of the idea of portraits about a certain desire to be inside the cercle of a group, tto take part of a community. The Mawashi project will be the first part of this new research. |

| That's a new experience for me. Showing in one gallery all my portfolios from the start, from the Water-polo to the last and freshly finished Empire series. It makes the whole work possibly encyclopedic, maybe... Come and check. |

Filming a marching band |
| A video clip sounds like a good test for me for my cinema project. I was recently filming the video clip for the french singer, Florent Marchet. The video clip will be on the french TV programs in January. You could see some extract of the videos online on Florent's website too. |

| The EMPIRE series is almost done... The last three photographic sessions were with the swiss guards of the Vatican, the Grenadiers of Arnheim in Holland, and the Light Artillery of 'T Harde in Holland too. A book project is on its way and an exhibition of the whole project would first take place in Holland in 2007. |

POC show, ALONE TOGETHER |
| After four workshops (Rouen, Madrid, Cologne, Berlin, the first POC exhibition is going on at the Nouvelles Images Gallery in Den Haag, Holland. The work of twenty-one POC members is on the walls, including the videos of Rachel Reupke, the photographies of Trish Morrissey, Janne Lehtinen, Matthias Koch, Goetz Diergarten, Mathieu Bernard-Reymond, Loan Nguyen, Stephen Hughes, Marina Gadonneix, Peter Granser, Thomas Humery, Patricia Almeida, Jasper De Beijer... (see the works on www.pocproject.com). The Alone together show is somehow about a sensation all of us somehow have, something dealing with a touch of lonelyness, something poetic in it, and a particular state of mind too; to work hardly to feel happy together. |

Next week in Chicago |
| My first solo exhibition in USA, at Stephen Daiter Gallery, in Chicago. Have a look on the website introducing some images of the Itza' series (Guatemala) and some "portraits photographiques et uniformes" you probably don't know. This new exhibition is also a new way to present my work and its evolutions, with the presentation of some short extract from different series, connecting them together. The "Itza'" project is not over neither. I will go back in Guatemala this year or ealy next year. And this next week, I'll photograph a new project at Gleenbrook highschool in the near suburd of Chicago (Remember "Breakfast club"? It was filmed there). |

Berliner POC Member |
| The POC crew has had its fourth workshop at the C/O in Berlin, introducing the new members of POC (Thomas Mailaender, Bert Danckaert, Jasper DeBaijer). A POC show titled "ALONE TOGETHER" will take place for 2 years in different Art places. The first exhibition of the 20 photographers will be opening at the Galerie Nouvelles Images, in Den Haag, Holland, the 16th of June. |
